Favourite Photos from the year 2015
2015 has again been another busy year for my photography, and as it comes to the end of the year, well today is actually New Years Eve , there is no better time to look back on some of my favourite photos of the year.
Below you will find 15 of my favourite photos from 2015 and a little about each photo shoot. Enjoy… and Happy New Year
We start our look back in February and the Bathurst 12hr Endurance race. As part of the team creating a pictorial record in print of the event, I was lucky enough to be part of an amazing on track moving group shot at the Mountain.
We had one car from each of the different manufacturers competing at the event, drive in formation as me and the official event photographer Nathan Wong captured the cars as they drove down the Mountain.
To celebrate my wife and I’s 5th wedding anniversary this year, we headed to Hawaii. The first day we arrived we arranged a charter helicopter flight over the island of Oahu with Novictor Helicopters, it was an amazing experience and the views were spectacular. I would recommend the full doors of experience as it enables you to photograph straight out of the helicopter without any windows in the way. This shot is of the world famous Waikiki Beach and the long line of hotels that sit right on the beach.
Also while in the USA, I headed across to California for a few days to attend a Social Media Conference. The day before I headed to Corona, to visit the team at Saleen and checked out their awesome 700hp Black Label S302 Ford Mustang. We spent the day visiting the team and looking through their facility before experiencing the Black Label on the highway. The full video on the visit is coming early 2016. We shot this tracking shot of the Black Label on the highway not far from their workshop. I can tell you the sound was amazing.
The M Motorsport Camaro was a stunning car to photograph, it was literally unloaded from the truck after having all the stickers done then given to me to shoot before it was the rolled onto the transporter to take to its first test session. The orange really makes the car stand out in pictures. The design was done by my friend Scott over at SSmedia and it really makes the car pop.
This year at the V8 Supercar Bathurst 1000 there were two wildcard entries, one of those was the Harvey Norman Supergirls entry of Renee Gracie & Simona de Silvestro. I was asked by the team to create a series press shots of the two girls and the car, to enable a poster to be created to give away to fans at the race. We spent a day at Winton photographing the race car, both as a static shot on track, first thing in the morning and then in action on the track with Simona driving to get a rolling action shot of the car. I can tell you the sound of a V8 Supercar driving right behind you is just an amazing sound.
The VP Commodore from the V8 Action shoot had its Victorian debut at the Geelong Revival at the end of November. It was just magic to watch this recently restored car hitting the track and with full V8 noise to match.
The Lamborghini Huracan and Philip Island racetrack all to ourselves, this was an afternoon in heaven. Motokinetic boss and lead instructor Renato Loberto played model for me placing the Huracan right where we needed it as we tracked around Phillip Island capturing these shots for the Zagame Automotive team.
At the Lamborghini track day at Phillip Island for Zagame Automotive customers, we took three different models out onto the track to get some moving shots of the three cars in action. For this group shot we picked a classic Diablo, Gallardo and the new Huracan.
For the Ferrari owners track day we had 4 different models to work with, the brand new 488GTB, California T, 458 Speciale and a F12. The team from Motokinetic make this a dream to photograph as the drivers can place the cars in formation perfectly.
Last of the photos from the year was from only a few weeks ago. Shot at Sandown raceway as part of the Custom Cars and Coffee event, we had the only RWB Porsche in Australia attend and though it would look perfect on track surrounded by a Nissan GTR and modified Toyota Supra. The RWB Australia Porsche named Southern Cross by RWB master Nakai0-San looks stunning in pastel pink.
