1969 Chevrolet Camaro Photo Shoot

As part of my work for the Automotive Stock Library in the UK, I am always on the lookout for interesting cars to photograph.
Last year I became aware of friend of mine who had recently purchased a 69 Chevrolet Camaro. I had seen photos of it and thought it would be a perfect subject for my next shoot
So I contacted Josh and arranged for an afternoon to photograph his new toy
I love the Docklands area of Melbourne, it’s so industrial and has so many great spots for shooting cars. I had recently found a new spot that I had wanted to use. So this was the location for the shoot

As well shooting my normal exposure images, I have also been working with HDR’s.
The above image is a example of one of the images I turned into a HDR. The process is fairly simple I shoot a range of 5 exposures in 1 stop increments.
The images are then combined in a program called Photomatix, it is fairly easy to then adjust the effect to create the image you want

Adding something different to the shoot, I brought out my Nikon SB800 lights, examples above and below
I use 3 Nikon SB800’s on Manfrotto lights stands, they are then positioned on either side of the car and triggered using the Nikon CLS Infra Red System.

The plan next was to take the car to one of my other locations I use to do some rig photography.
First up I tried a angle with the camera looking back at the car, it is nice angle it is similar to the one I used on the HSV R8 shoot.
The first issue we struck was that the car vibrates a lot when the engine is running so it was hard to get a sharp image, but after a few attempts we got a good image

Next up I wanted to try a front on angle similar to what I did with the FPV F6
These turned up really well

Finally I wanted to do some dark moody static shots of the car as it has a great look

The last two images I was really happy with. They are HDR’s and they have given the car a whole surreal look
