Second BMW M6 being added to Australian GT Grid
Exciting news today with the announcement that the Australian GT Championship will be welcoming a second BMW M6 GT3 to its starting line.
Ryan Mcleod’s, the creator of the MARC series of race cars, has created a new GT teamed named MARC GT, and they have already taken delivery of their new M6.
The team will debut the car at the next round of the GT championship at Phillip Island at the end of May.
The MARC GT M6 will join the SRM BMW Team M6 on the grid
Behind the wheel will be upcoming star Morgan Haber & Jake Camilleri. The two drivers competed together at this year’s Bathurst 12hr race in the MARC Mazda.

Second BMW M6 GT3 set to join the Australian GT Championship
There will be twice the M Power on the Australian GT Championship grid from late May, with the addition of a second BMW M6 GT3 which has just arrived in the country.
Ryan McLeod’s newly-formed MARC GT team has taken delivery of a brand new BMW M6 GT3, which is in the final stages of preparation ahead of its debut at the Phillip Island race meeting at the end of this month.
The M6 GT3 will be raced by promising young gun Morgan Haber, with plans to contest both the Sprint Series and the Australian Endurance Championship which begins at Phillip Island next week. Haber’s team-mate will be Jake Camilleri, who was also his team-mate at the Bathurst 12 Hour earlier this year.
“This is exactly the progression and expansion we were hoping to see when we brought BMW back to motor racing in this country,” said BMW Group CEO Marc Werner.
“Adding another member to the BMW Motorsport family in the form of a second M6 GT3 is fantastic news. It’s further proof of the promise and potential the M6 GT3 package has shown so far in 2016. Given there is strength in numbers, we are delighted there is a second M6 ready to race in Australian GT.”
Haber, who tested the factory-supported BMW Team SRM M6 GT3 at Winton back in February, says he is excited to kick-start his new programme with the brand new car.
“I was really impressed with the car when I tested it for the first time,” said Haber.
“BMW know what they’re doing – just look at the success they had with the Z4 GT3.
“I was quite surprised when I drove the M6 GT3 for the first time; it was very different to anything else I’d driven before, but very nice to drive. It was comfortable right from the word go, very predictable and very balanced. I still haven’t done a lot of laps, but I can tell it’s a good car.
“Next up our plan is to get some more testing miles under our belt. We have a heavy race programme at Phillip Island with both sprint and endurance races, so we’ll be testing at Queensland Raceway later this week to ensure that we come out and put on a good show right from our first round.”
Haber, 22, has extensive experience in GT and touring cars. The Mackay local started out in karting, before moving to the Australian Swift Racing Series. Haber then progressed to the V8 Supercars development series in 2013 and 2014. Last year he moved to the Australian GT Championship with Erebus Motorsport, before electing to join MARC GT for the 2016 season.
Marc GT will start their 2016 racing campaign at Phillip Island and will contend the remaining races at Townsville, Sydney Motorsport Park, Hampton Downs (NZ), and Highlands (NZ).
